A Man’s Guide for Wearing a Khmer Scarf

Scarves are very useful pieces of clothing – especially the Khmer scarf. Today, most people simply wear them as an accessory. In the Western world, people don’t wear scarves because they’re useful – they use them because they are pretty. Because of this, scarves are most often worn by women. This is a shame, because the Khmer scarf and other scarves are extremely useful and look great when worn by men. Today, we’re going to look at why men should wear scarves, and why the Khmer scarf is the perfect choice.

Why Men Should Wear Scarves

Scarves are manly, and they’re very useful. If you don’t believe me, watch footage of the WWII battles, and you’re sure to spot many men wearing scarves.  Additionally, cowboys in the wild west commonly wore scarves. Throughout history, men have worn scarves both for aesthetic appeal, and because they’re very useful. During WWII, scarves served soldiers well in both cold and warm weather. In the cold, they serve to keep the neck protected from the harsh weather, and in the summer, they can be pulled up over the chin, mouth, and nose to protect the wearer from dust. Cowboys wear neckerchiefs for this purpose, to keep dust out of their faces as they work cattle.

Guide for Men: How to Wear a Scarf

There are many ways to wear a scarf. Generally speaking, it is important to keep your scarf loose and stick with simple knots for a more relaxed look. Another good rule is to think of function first – if it’s cold outside, you don’t want it hanging loosely down your chest – you want it wrapped around your neck for warmth.
